Valery Egoshkin: “Americans Benefited From Terrorism In Algeria”

CIA is behind the targeting of Russian interests in Algeria, during the security crisis, in the nineties, when they were dispelled from energy projects, and paved the way for U.S companies, Former Russian ambassador to Algeria, Valery Egoshkin told Russia Today Channel.

Russian diplomat asserted, in an interview with the channel “Russia Today”, when he was asked about the reason for targeting Russians and French by terrorists from the Armed Islamic Group “GIA”: “The attacks were selective, and were targeting the Russians and the French in particular, and as a result of the selective attacks against us, we withdrew from the oil projects, because it was not possible to provide protection to our interests, and the result is that the priority then was to the Americans in the exploration for oil and gas, and then exploration at a later date. 

Egoshkin agreed with the argument that was presented by the program, which is that there is a conspiracy theory that was prepared by the CIA, as he responded in the affirmative way, although he refused to accuse the CIA, but he wondered about the reason of targeting the trade and economic representation specifically, and the death of a driver who is working at the embassy, and who went for a short distance for maintenance of a diplomatic car that he was driving, and the number of Russians who were killed, which is 20 victims at that time.

“As a result of the selective targeting of the Russian and French interests, communication relationships were built between diplomats of the two countries. French were too overbearing in their dealings with diplomats from other countries.”

“I’m sure that the army and the joint Algerian security interests were playing their role to the fullest, so as not to affect the embassy and the ambassador. Cooperation remains close in the military field, at the height of the security crisis between Algeria and Moscow.”

Retired Major-General, Abdel Aziz Medjahed, told Echorouk that he agrees with the theory that was made by the Russian diplomat, and said: “Terrorism was a means that was used by Western and American imperialism, to keep the bodies that affect their interests”.

Medjahed, who was director of the military academy of the various weapons in Cherchel, wondered about the inherent activity of terrorism across the world in the areas where America’s interests; “The reason is that terrorism serve the interests of America, including the revolution in Libya after the Chinese and the Russians benefited from contracts in the oil sector, and the coup that took place in Mali, as a result of China’s projects in the oil sector as well, in addition to the emergence of the terrorist organization Boko Haram, with the activation of the axis Algeria-Abuja-Pretoria. “

Concerning the mechanism that is adopted by the U.S administration to exploit the terrorist groups, the Maj. Gen. Medjahed, explaied: “Al-Qaeda is a U.S made organization, and it utilized terrorism intellectually, through some of the elders, because persuading a terrorist by an American is difficult, but alders (Sheikhs) can do that easily, and it happened with the targeting of Russian interests in Algeria, under the pretext of a communist state that is an enemy of Islam.”
