Villagers organize a silent march to denounce kidnappings and blackmailing

Scores of citizens from 55 villages of “Ath Djennad” tribe and the surrounding areas took to the streets in a popular march yesterday morning with the view to demanding the liberation of the young “Lounes” kidnapped by the terrorist groups last week.

  • This peaceful march was designed to denounce terrorism in general and the phenomenon of kidnapping against businessmen and wealthy people that took alarming proportions in the area.
  • The protesters started off their march at 10am from the village center in the direction of the city hall raising slogans against kidnappings and calling for the unconditional release of “Lounes”.
  • On behalf of the victim’s family, the imam of the village of “Azrou” ( Lounes native village) has called on the terrorists to release the young man at earliest because he was in critical health condition. The victim has a tumor that requires regular medical supervision.
  • The members of the crisis cell have indicated that the terrorists didn’t fix any ransom so far adding that they had only got in touch with his elder brother the very next day of his abduction to inform them pending another contact to fix the ransom.
  • It should be noted that the crisis cell has organized a march last week in the village of Friha followed by a general strike and a popular rally by the town hall in a move to pressure the terrorists to free the young man.
  • Lounes was abducted at fake checkpoint nearby his village and driven to an unknown destination.
