Saida Benhbiles Tuesday said the Red Crescent is ready to help Syrian and African refugees and provide them with necessary financial and administrative means if they want to go back home.

“The Algerian Red Crescent helped 40 Syrians living in Mascara to go back to their country. We encourage Syrian and African refugees to return to their country. We are ready to pay all charges,” Benhbiles told Echorouk on the phone.

“Following a list received from the Palestinian Red Crescent, we collected 130 tons of medicines. We are waiting for the go-ahead from Cairo to bring aid to Gaza through the Rafah crossing point,” she added.

Syrian politician Salem Abu Dad said he did not hear of any Syrian living in Algeria who wanted to go back home. “The situation in Syria is very dangerous and I know that Syrian families are living in a real hell,” he said in response to Benhbiles’ remarks.

“Syrians who could not get a job want to go to Europe and get a Schengen visa. I don’t think that they want to go back to death,” he added.
