We will run a risk to win, says Morocco coach
Morocco national coach Eric Gerets
Morocco national coach Eric Gerets Saturday said he is ready for running a risk to gain victory points against Algeria.
- “I came to Algeria to gain the tie point as that would be enough for my team to top the group. As football does not admit logic, I will not miss any opportunity to surprise the Algerians in the Stadium of Ananba,” Eric Gerets told a news conference.
- “My tactic depends on the Algerian coach Abdelhak Benchikha’s one. The data available to me now do not enable me to fix any strategy. I prefer first to check the pitch though I can imagine the Algerian team’s plan,” he added.
- Pressure will be on both teams
- Morocco’s coach said pressure will be on the two teams. “The Atlas Lions want to get the first place.”
- “Ziani is a main piece in your team”
- Gerets said he knows almost all the Algerian players and he knows Karim Ziani very well as he had coached him in Olympique de Marseille. “He is a main piece in the Algerian team. Because of that, he will be under surveillance to paralyze his movements.”
- “The Algerian team are respected and strong. Their perturbed results do not mean that they are weak. They are still strong.”
- Bouguerra’s absence is painful blow
- The Atlas Lions’s coach said he was happy for hearing that Algeria’s defender Madjid Bouguerra would not play. “Yet, the Algerian team have many alternatives.”
- “The Algerian team have been playing together for a long time. Because of that, Benchikha can fix the formation eh wants and his players can play any role he wants,” he added.
