Wholesalers and retailers complain of lack of supply in Algeria

Commercial activity in food industries, fuel, and equipment machines decreased between April and June. In an inquiry with 533 companies, most of their owners complained of the lack of goods and slow supply procedures.

According to the National Office of Statistics, about 68 percent of wholesalers and retailers said there is a lack of goods in terms of equipment and machines. Around 32 percent of wholesalers and 73 percent of retailers said they bought goods from private companies only.

According to the same source, more than 45 percent of wholesalers and 23 percent of retailers bought their goods from private and public companies. 

Speaking about prices, a total of 57 percent of wholesalers and around 92 percent of retailers said they are very high.

About 81 percent of wholesalers and 95 percent of retailers bought their goods from direct suppliers. A total of 19 percent of wholesalers bought goods from a second or third mediator.
