French Army Chief of Staff Gen. Pierre de Villier, is paying a three days official visit to Algeria, here on Saturday.

This visit aims to convince Algeria to accept a military intervention in Libya, because Algeria considers any foreign intervention in Libya the first nail in the coffin of Libyan dialogue.

A statement to the French embassy in Algeria, explains that the Chief of Staff will be received at the National Defense Ministry, by the Algerian Defense Minister, Gen. Ahmed Guaid Saleh, Deputy of the National Defense Minister, and Chief of Algerian Army Staff.

French official will be received at the Foreign Affairs Ministry by the Minister Delegate in charge of Maghreb and African Affairs, Abdelkader Messahel, then he will visit the Fourth Military Region in Biskra (Southern Algeria).

“This visit comes four months after the visit of the Defense Minister, Jean Yves Le Drian, to Algeria on last May, in the context of the state’s visit follow up, that was made by the French President to Algeria on December 2012, and will be an opportunity to follow the firm consulting between France and Algeria, on all the regional issues, and the necessity to fight the common danger that terrorism represent for the whole region”.
