The Haj and Omra national Office withdrew hotels renting mission from touristic agencies in charge of organizing Haj season 2014. Hotels chosen by the Office will handle the mission for 28,700 pilgrims.

A new article was included in the current Haj season specifications about residences renting. They were chosen upon request from the Office and following talks in a meeting between its representatives, concerned ministries and Saudi operators. Touristic agencies were excluded.

“This new point raised many questions. Why was the hotels renting mission withdrawn from agencies?” chief of touristic agencies union in charge of Haj and Omra Ilyes Snoussi told Echorouk on the phone.

“The agencies used to pay travel and residence costs for guides and accompanying imam. The profit rate they get may not reach 2,000 DZ,” he added.

The Office accomplished all the transactions and pilgrims will stay in five-star-hotels

The office’s General Director Cheikh Barbara said all the transactions were accomplished at an early time as a delegation is in the Holy Places to choose hospitals to receive Algerian pilgrims in case they face health troubles.

“Five new hotels will be rented for about 4,000 pilgrims. The number of Omra performers has reached 234,000 while no case of coronavirus was reported. Many measures were taken at the Constantine, Oran and Algiers Airports to avoid contamination,” he added.
