World Bank orders Algeria to ban bureaucratic documents
The World Bank ordered Algeria to ban all starting a business-related documents in order to improve business climate, according to executives at the interior ministry.
The bank also ordered to allow business owners to register on the Internet and deal with registered lawyers.
Vice-director at the ministry’s local governments department Omar Assam told Echorouk the World Bank’s observers requested visits to municipalities to see how construction licences are granted.
“Some ministries were not ready to make changes requested by the World Bank in its 2016 report,” he said.
He added that Algeria lost 10 positions in the last Doing Business Report because its new investment law was not ready in last April.
He also said the World Bank also ordered Algeria to reduce the number of requested documents from people who want to start a business.
Earlier, the interior minister Nourredine Badaoui gave instructions to reduce the number of requested documents and improve public departments management. He also ordered to eliminate hindrances.
