Youcef Yousfi: “We Will Never Resort To External Debt”

Algerian authority will not resort to external debt no matter what the price, because we witnessed in the past how did external debt harmed our internal sovereignty, Energy and Mines Minister, Youcef Yousfi, said as a leader of the RND party, during a popular rally in Bouira (eastern Algiers), on Saturday evening, and as the representative of the party’s General Secretary, Ahmed Ouyahia, in the electoral campaign.

“Option of resort to borrowing from the International Monetary Fund outside the accounts of the Algerian state and enough of it at the present time, despite the difficulties of this stage”.

As an alternative, Yousef Yousfi, called for unity among the Algerians and work together to promote the national economy as an alternative to oil, such as agriculture, industry and tourism.

“We should work hard and move away from the dependency approach. The state will not abandon its social policy, like supporting the public housing sector and basic products, as it raised this year its funding for municipal budgets from 30 to DZD 100 billion as evidence of its interest in raising the standard of living of simple citizens.
