Zaouias honor Chakib Khalil

The son of the Ben Marzouk Zaouia’s Cheikh and chairman of Zaouias National Organization Abdelkader Yacine described Algeria’s former energy minister Chakib Khalil as “Zaouia’s old friend.”

“We know him [Khalil] since a long time. He has been a friend of Zaouia since he was a minister. He is a faithful and a religion-practicing man. Because of that, we honoured him,” he told Echorouk.

“Before he was honoured, Khalil had performed Friday’s Prayer at the Zaouia mosque and attended Quran lessons. He met the Zaouia’s Cheikh, members of its scientific council and notables,” he added.

“In Zaouia, we have nothing to do with politics. We serve Algeria and those who serve it including Chakib Khalil. We invited him as he came back to Algeria. He promised that Zaouia would be the first place he would visit.”

“He was acquitted by Italian justice and Algerian courts did not charge him,” said Yacine.
