15 thousand Algerian illegal immigrants (Harraga) are scattered in Europe
The phenomenon of illegal immigration has exacerbated in recent months, with figures from the Algerian League for Human Rights speaking of 338 abortive attempts to cross to the other shore of the Mediterranean basin in less than two weeks on the basis of statistics issued by the high command of the Navy Coast Guard.
The Navy Coast Guard has foiled the latest attempts at illegal immigration by intercepting 338 illegal immigrants since August 21, 2016 until September 5, 2016, by notably thwarting an attempt at illegal immigration from the coastline of Mostaganem (Western Algeria), involving 10 persons, including a minor on board a makeshift boat.
However, there is still no precise figures from the relevant authorities about the exact number of people who drowned during these dangerous sea crossings as well as the lack of exact and final number of people who have succeeded in their illegal immigration attempts and set foot in various European countries.
