The Prime Minister Abdelmadjid Teboune signed an executive decree to determine a modal for declarations on honour. Senior officials will have to follow this modal and submit it to the Supreme Court to prove that they have Algerian nationality only. A deadline is fixed on July 10th.

A total of 15 officials who still hold senior positions will have to present a declaration on honour within the next 30 days. They will have to prove that they have Algerian nationality only. Any false declaration will lease to sanctions.

Earlier in January, a law determining responsibilities was published in the Official Journal. It stipulates the necessity of submitting a declaration on honour within 6 months. This means that legal deadlines expire on July 10th.

The declarations should be presented to the Supreme Court. Any official who has another nationality in addition to the Algerian one will quit.

The declaration modal shows that officials should mention their name, parents, date and place of birth, address and position.

The interdiction of senior positions for dual-citizenship officials raised a large controversy among parties.
