Calls for raising travel bonus to 800 euros
Members of Parliament and touristic agencies estimated travel bonus which is expected to be raised by the Algeria Bank at 800 euros. This sum would preserve Algerian tourists’ dignity abroad for a week maximum. Touristic agencies and the finance commission at Parliament called on Algerian officials to make the new bonus not be less than this figure.
Leader of touristic agencies national union Bachir Djribi said the decision to raise the bonus should be speeded up. “The current bonus estimated at 130 euros is not sufficient for even a taxi from the airport to the hotel in expensive European capitals.”
He told Echorouk the union called on authorities to raise the bonus to 600-800 euros. In 2013, the tourism minister was asked to find an urgent solution to raise the bonus which not adequate to living conditions in any country. Yet, the request was not met.
Oumssaad Bentorki, a member at the finance and budget commission said the bonus should be between 600 and 800 euros. This sum would meet Algerians’ needs abroad.
