Jobless Koran teachers threaten to set themselves on fire in Tissemsilt

A group of laureates of a recently-held exam on the teaching of the holy Koran have threatened to set themselves on fire on the street after failing to secure jobs promised to them in early January by the management body of religious affairs of the province of Tissemsilt in western Algeria.

  • These disgruntled protesters who said that they had passed the Koran teaching examination with success at the Relizane Institute in early January,  gathered on Tuesday outside the building of the religious affairs management body in the city of Tissemsilt to voice their grievances saying that they had been “victimized” and left in the lurch by the relevant administration.
  •
  •
  •
  • During their prolonged sit-in, they decided to recite the holy verses of the holy Koran until its completion in front of the religious affairs management premises in Tissemsilt in order to attract the attention of the relevant authorities about their dire social condition.

  •
  •
  • They also alerted the religious affairs Minister Abdallah Ghoulamoulah himself to their hapless situation stressing that they would not forsake their protest action until their demands were fulfilled.
