Abdelmalek Sellal To Inaugurate 50th Algiers International Fair

The 50th Edition of Algiers International Fair, which will open tomorrow, will be held at the Palace of Exhibitions and will notice the participation of 536 Algerian and 494 foreign companies from 34 countries, as the PM Abdelmalek Sellal will inaugurate the opening on behalf of the President Abdelaziz Bouteflika, General Manager of the Algerian Company for Exhibitions and Exports, Tayeb Zeitouni, said.

“This year’s edition was designed under the theme of “50 years of service to the Algerian economy”, and it will be organized from 8 to 13 May, and Russia will be the honorary guest with 30 companies”; Zitouni added, during a press conference that he organized with the commercial representative of Russia Embassy to Algeria, Alexei Shaltov.

Algiers Fair is dedicated to the various national and foreign pavilions, with a total area of ​​34,000 m2, of which 28,784 m2 are allocated for national exhibitors, representing 85% of the total area.

The 28 official wings of 354 foreign institutions are from South Africa, Germany, Belarus, Brazil, China, Cote d’Ivoire, Cuba, Egypt, the United States, France, Hungary, Indonesia, Iraq, Iran, Italy, Japan, Jordan, Libya, Mali, Palestine, Poland, Portugal, the Sahrawi Arab Democratic Republic, Senegal, Sudan, Syria, the Czech Republic and Turkey.

For individual foreign participation, 30 enterprises will participate in an area of ​​245 m2 from 11 countries: China, Spain, India, Italy, Jordan, Lebanon, Portugal, Senegal, Czech Republic, Thailand and Tunisia.

According to the sectors, the area that is allocated for the partnership is in the forefront with 93 exhibitors, that are followed by the food industries sector – 70 companies – the energy industry, chemistry and petrochemicals – 69 companies – the electrical and electronic – 36 institutions – the manufacturing industries – 28 institutions – the mechanical and the iron and the steel – 38 companies – And large construction works, 18 institutions.

Zitouni pointed to the new dimension of the Algiers International Fair, which was approved since 2010, which is based mainly on investment and strengthening partnership with foreign institutions rather than the commercial side.

For his part, the Russian diplomat said that there are significant investment opportunities in Algeria, which we would like to exploit in the “winner-winner” partnership, especially in the sectors of agriculture, mechanical industry, processing and tourism.

Participation of Russian institutions in this edition aims to give impetus to bilateral exchanges and to Russian-Algerian economic cooperation”.
