Anti-fraud agents from the relevant trade department of the province of Algiers unveiled a significant amount of rotten red meat which was destined to marketing for large consumption, estimated at ten tons and the necessary legal action was taken against the culprits.

The operation was carried out following a routine inspection tour carried out in some districts of Algiers by the agents of suppression of fraud and illegal trading practices.

These dutiful agents made a surprise inspection in a warehouse that marketed meat, where significant quantities of decayed meat were found, and as they inquired about the existence of the veterinarian’s safety document to no avail, they were flabbergasted by a total lack of hygiene and sanitation in the premises.

In the same context, the representative of the Directorate of Trade of theprovince  of Algeria, Mr Ayachi Dehar, told “Echorouk” to this effect that the operation was carried out by the Trading Inspectorate of the Administrative Department  in suburban Dar El Beida municipality, where the anti-fraud agents  discovered more than 1,000 kg or 10 big pieces of corrupt red meat meant  for human consumption and which were stored tightly in a makeshift warehouse, lacking all conditions of cleanliness and devoid of any refrigerated rooms.

The source added that the origin of this decayed meat was still unknown adding that it had been illegally slaughtered and handed over to the owner by a shady veterinarian, who was about to sell it for 780 dinars a kilogram.
