The national trade union of the Algerian professional office of grains and its various branches have sent an urgent letter to the agriculture and rural development minister informing him that there is a shadowy plot aimed at covertly “smashing” the national company for the land transport of grains “Agrourt” by replacing it with money-grabbing private firms operating in this sector of activity.

The letter of which Echorouk possesses a copy alerts the relevant authorities about the unlawful practices by certain ill-intentioned people within the company stressing that their blatant aim is to bring the company to its knees.

Some sections of the professional office of grains transport have been sending several grains-loaded lorries from the capital Algiers to the city of Chlef, then they decide to send the same quantities from Chlef to the city of Blida in order to blur the situation and conclude financial deals with private transport firms in murky circumstances to the detriment of the bona-fide Agrourt company.

According to blasting documents revealed by the relevant Trade Union, about 400 lorries out of 1.000 owned by the targeted company are now out of order owing to glaring negligence, sabotage and depredation by some malevolent people.

As a result, the company has been going downhill and has sustained major financial losses since the year 2002 owing to these blameworthy practices, according to the exhaustive  fact-finding documents which have now been conveyed to the agriculture and rural development ministerial department.
