The Directorate of Military Industries at the Ministry of National Defense is aiming to develop the local military industrialization strategy in the coming year by reaching 100 billion dinars in addition to the establishment of new partnerships for the setting up of mechanical companies producing spare parts components in the sector, which is foreseen to reach $ 1 billion dollars in revenues.

Major General Mohamed Chouaki, Director of Military Industries, dubbed the first years of local military manufacturing as “positive” in light of the significant results achieved in this field of endeavor.

He stated  during a parliamentary day on “Military Industries in Algeria – Reality and Prospects” organized by the National People’s Assembly Defense Commission that the military Industries have become an integral part of the national industrial fabric, expecting to meet all the needs of the national market regarding  trucks, cars and Mercedes-Benz four-wheel drive vehicles by the year 2019.

Major General Chouaki said that Algeria, thanks to its win-win partnerships with several countries, had proven to be a credible country, with on focus the fruitful partnership which was fostered with such giants of industrialization as Germany, noting that the first actual steps in this direction, which began in 2012, had contributed to the salvaging of many ailing national companies and factories that were threatened with closure or on the verge of bankruptcy, such as the shoe factory and wooden mills factory based in Khenchela province (eastern Algeria).

“Such a salutary  partnership has given a valuable opportunity to engage resolutely in the field of industrialization with the world pioneers of this industry, so as to benefit from the latter’s   long-standing experience, to bring advanced technology to Algeria, as well as to create jobs, to contribute to the speedy development of the national economy and to slash the country’s import bill,” he argued.

“We want our products to be of international quality and of good reputation. We are now finalizing a thorough study to establish companies  involved in the production of motor components and we’re in contact with potential investors to urge them to get established in  the provinces of Constantine, and in Tiaret  and in the region of Rouiba, east in the capital Algiers  where several trucks and utility vehicles’ factories are located”, he underlined in this respect.
