Algeria allocates 1,840 billion DZ for social support

Algerian government raised the budget intended for social support by 75 percent by allocating 1,840 billion DZ are allocated.

Although Algeria lost about the half of its income, it allocated 1,840 billion DZ to cover social support policy. This sum represents around 10 percent of the GDP. It shows that the government considers social support as a priority.

According to the financial draft act 2016, the government raised budget allocated to health and housing sectors.

Budget intended for wheat, milk, sugar and cooking oil subsidy this year is estimated at 224 billion DZ.

The government raised the value-added tax (VAT) on oil products, electricity and water tariff. The draft law will be passed by the Ministers’ Council before being discussed by Parliament.
