Algeria Is Being Blackmailed With Migrants’ File

Algeria League for the Human Rights Defense condemned the American “Associated Press” report, on Tuesday, which accused Algeria of abandoning more than 13,000 people in the past 14 months and leaving them in the desert near Niger and Mali without water and food.

“The report was neither objective nor innocent and was based on inaccuracies in facts on the ground. It targets Algeria through pressurizing and blackmailing it to establish a US military base in Algeria. It pressurizes Algeria to conclude the agreement with the European Union on refugees and illegal migrants because Algeria is committed to receiving them from the European Union, such as the agreement that was signed two years ago with Turkey”, the ALHRD statement said.

“The report is nor based on accurate information, nor even on scientific criteria in its assessment, because the American Associated Press agency does not bother to do field research, and is only satisfied with personal views in most cases. AP should have checked out the report of the Algerian League for the Human Rights Defense, which is the only ground report that reflects the reality of illegal immigrants”.

Algerian League for the Human Rights Defense recalled that the report of the head of its office in Tamanrasset (Southern Algeria), Samadat Habiballah, that; “Africans who are looking to enter the Algerian territory are paying 1100 euros for people who can easily cut off the desert within two days and then pay an additional 1,500 euros for their entry into Algerian territory, exactly to Tamanrasset (southern Algeria) which is about 2,000 kilometers from the capital, Algiers”.

“A visitor to Ain Guezzam, which is located 12 kilometers from the Algerian-Nigerian border, discovers that African illegal immigration’s brokers are living their golden age, although the border is closed between the two countries, but as a result of the wars that are carried out by the French army in Africa, especially in 13 African countries, which contributed to the emergence of some of the mercenaries who work with the French army and who are often engaged in the arms’ trade and human trafficking, which explains such wrong western reports”.

The Head of the State Office of the Algerian League for the Human Rights Defense in Tamanrasset (Southern Algeria) explained that the Arleth-Samqa axis in Niger and Ain Guezzam in Algerian was designated to be a vital and privileged axis to smuggle people day and night.

“The axis of Tinezrouft Sahara is also used for human trafficking. It is located between Bordj Badji Mokhtar and Adrar (Southern Algeria). The case turned into a lucrative trade by mercenaries. As hundreds of refugees flock to Ain Guezzam and Tamanrasset every day, where the mafia cells pass convoys of migrants to the border”.
