Algeria minister to reshuffle housing directors
Abdelmadjid Teboune

Algerian housing minister Abdelmadjid Teboune is expected to reshuffle real-estate promotion and management offices and housing departments after he comes back from a visit to eastern Algeria with the prime minister, Echorouk has learnt.

The minister will order reshuffled executives to achieve concrete results because they will be the only assessment mechanism, according to sources.
All the executives concerned by the reshuffle were informed of the new procedures and planned objectives for the current year in terms of houses building.
The last reshuffle in the housing sector goes back to 9 years ago. The minister decided to separate housing departments from equipment departments in 21 provinces in order to boost the sector and provide necessary conditions to sanction executives.
Teboune ordered his executives to work in the field to follow up housing projects as they are used to prepare reports inside their offices and submit them to senior officials including the prime minister and the president.
According to the same sources, the housing sector needs a comprehensive review. The government decided to raise national building capacities in partnership between public and private sectors as well as international groups experienced in planning, building and housing projects management.
A comprehensive review will also be carried out on financing mechanisms. A new housing bank is expected to be created to accompany the sector in an economic correct way.
