Algeria opposition leader: south residents suffer injustice
The leader of Algeria’s opposition party, Ali Benflis Wednesday said the Algerian south still suffers from marginalization due to the government’s policy. According to him, the country is divided into two worlds: the first one “feels comfortable” in the north while the other one faces “injustice” in the south.
The former head of government and presidential candidate described the south residents as “the wretched of the Earth.”
He believes that all the crises experienced by the country were worse in the south, saying that residents in this part of Algeria did not benefit from financial advantages.
Speaking about his strategy, Benflis said his party gives priority to make the south a corner stone in the national model for economic and social development. His plan will be based in balanced and coherent development.
