Algerian President Abdelaziz Bouteflika dismissed the Internal Security Director Ali Ben Daoud and appointed Abdelaziz to replace him.

This comes as part of a series of an important reshuffle conducted on sensitive institutions in the army.

Ali Ben Daoud held many positions inside and outside the intelligence department. His last position was in Paris before he was appointed as anti-spying department director to succeed Bachir Tertague.

Earlier on Thursday, President Bouteflika dismissed the Republic Guards’ Commander Ahmed Moulai Meliani and the Presidential Security Commander Djamel Medjdoub.

This reshuffle comes to reach direct coordination between security forces and the national army in order to face threats in Algeria’s borders, Echorouk has learnt.
