The Ministry of higher education and scientific research has issued a new instruction destined to all Algerian institutes, colleges and universities at the national level prohibiting the wearing of short dress on campus for both male and female, with a few weeks to go before the advent of the summer season coinciding for the third consecutive year with the holy month of fasting of Ramadan slated for mid-June.

Short skirts are thus banned for female students and short pants called “Pantacour” will also be off-limits for male students, as part of the new guidelines issued by the relevant ministry and the security agents at the University level, have been entrusted with strictly implementing such an instruction by closely screening all the comings and goings inside and outside the higher education institutions across the national territory.
