Algeria to hold International Forum on Combating Terrorism next July

Algeria called for the need to adopt a comprehensive approach to combat terrorism, and emphasized in the words of the Foreign and International Cooperation Minister, Ramtane Lamamra, on the importance of drying the sources of financing terrorist groups and to prevent the payment of the ransom.

“Algeria is determined to organize an international conference next July on the eradication of extremism.”
Foreign Ministers said in front of of the OIC Council at its 42nd session, that was held on Wednesday and Thursday in Kuwait, that the approach which was proposed by Algeria to combat terrorism, combining between the fight against terrorist groups and drying up the funding for their activities and prevent the payment of ransoms, and the processing of causes which encourages this phenomenon, notably the economic and social factors and political governance, and the equitable distribution of wealth, and the ongoing awareness operations about the danger of religious extremist ideas and disseminating the values of tolerance and moderation and dialogue, especially among young people and the role of science.
Algerian diplomatic head, Ramtane Lamamra, explained in a speech to the OIC Foreign Ministers the experience of Algeria in combating terrorism, pointing to the need to combat terrorist groups inadvertently to stop their spreading.
“Algeria appreciates the global awakening against the phenomenon of global terrorism, and calls for the adoption of a comprehensive approach in this area. Algeria has an experience in combating this phenomenon, and it suffered a bloody decade, during the nineties of the last century.”
“There is a need to adopt a comprehensive approach to confront the scourge of terrorism. Algeria will hold an international conference on the eradication of extremism on July. This conference will be an opportunity to share experiences and come up with recommendations and procedures for improvement of the claim of Member States of the Organization to spare the peoples, especially young people, from obeying the horns of sedition and extremism.”
