Algerian businessmen ask government to adopt the international weekend system

Heads of Institutions’ Forum ask, within the 50 proposals that were submitted to the government, under the title “In order to hold a new economic growth”, to join the weekend’s days in Algeria to the world system.

HIF confirmed the importance of returning to the international weekend, or enable institutions to create a weekly rest according to their traditions.

According to the proposals, which copy is available to Echorouk, on its page No. 16 and the proposal No. 38, the HIF called for the importance of adopting the international weekend system, or enable institutions to create a weekly rest according to their traditions, as departments that receive the public, such as municipalities, posts and payment points will open on Saturday.

International weekend coincides with the Saturdays and Sundays, while the week end in Algeria coincides with Fridays and Saturdays, since the beginning of August, 2009, after it was the weekend coincided with Thursdays and Fridays, then this system sparked controversy because of popular refusal, considering that the Friday is a work day, at a time when the Prime Minister at the time, Ahmed Ouyahia, resorted to choosing a compromise by resorting to the adoption of Friday and Saturday as a weekend in Algeria instead of Saturday and Sunday and instead of Thursday and Friday.
