Algerian immigrants spend 12 hours to go out of Algiers Port
Algerian immigrants swear not to return homeland a second time through the ship.
They expressed anger, but they find themselves forced to wait for hours that sometimes reach up to 12 hours for the last one who get inspected by customs.
Echorouk shared their suffering and reported the miserable situation of many of them.
They came on board of the ship “Daniel Casanova” from Marseille to Algiers port. Many of them are Algerian immigrants who came with baggage and goods in their cars that reached more than 300 vehicles.
When the ship “Danielle Casanova” arrived on November, 11, on last Wednesday, the time was at 8:00 am, after minutes some passengers who did not bring their cars get out of the port.
The waiting rooms were filled. Everyone was in anticipation and concern, because they were waiting for their relatives, but time passed and no passenger who brought their cars with them came out, even if one of the passengers who is a young woman, 30, get out after being subject to inspection within 12:00 am, but most travelers were unable to exit the ship only 2:00 pm.
Echorouk sneaked out into the place where dozens of cars with drivers were present, just meters from the entrance to the port in the up floor, they suffered fatigue and exhaustion, and some of them preferred to get out of their cars and keep standing stand up to wait for their turn.
The luggage was over the tables and some was scattered, on the other side other luggage passed through on scanner, time passed and dozens of cars were still waiting for their turn.
Customs officers were sweating while they inspected large bags that are often loaded with “scrap” and “second hand clothes”, and someone said, “Nothing fit, you only want to protest.”
Some agents said that their agents are doing double work, and those who came on board of the French Daniel Casanova ship in the French were not inspected in Marseille port because French customs do not care about what is introduced to Algeria.
Algerian expatriates who come with their cars carried old things, goods and equipment, and the customs should conduct their inspection mission and check everything carefully because the legal measures require it. No one can pass without his car and luggage for a close scrutiny.
