Saudi authorities refused to register the birth of an Algerian girl in Mecca under the pretext that her mother gave birth out of clinics. Saudi laws forbids to grant authorization to give birth in such cases.

An Algerian family called on the Algerian consulate in Jeddah to give their baby born in Mecca a permission to come back home. Saudi authorities refused to register her birth, saying she was not born in their hospitals.

According to the director of a tour agency, an Algerian pregnant woman was in the Holy Places to perform Omra. She was surprised by childbirth pains and was taken to a hospital in Mecca. Yet, she had given birth in the ambulance.

The family which went to the Holy Places to perform Omra in the fasting month of Ramadan are still waiting for the Algerian consulate’s intervention. Saudi authorities still refuse to register the girl’s birth.
