Algerian schools count 200 cases of violence in two months

Education Ministry sent a list of educational institutions where the phenomenon of violence spread largely, to the General Directorate of National Security, which in turn takes appropriate actions that will protect both the teachers and pupils from attacks.

Previously, investigations showed that the pupils and teachers of high schools in major cities are the most vulnerable to violence of all kinds.

Informed sources told Echorouk that the National Education Ministry, is drafting an “agreement” with the General Directorate of National Security, which includes legal provisions that would limit or reduce, to a large extent, the phenomenon of violence that spread remarkably in the school, especially in the educational institutions surroundings, a protocol that will see the light in the near future.

Laws will be activated to ensure the protection of teachers who suffers from violence by his pupils and administrative officers, on the grounds that the pupil is protected by virtue of the ministerial procedures, which prevent beatings, verbal and physical violence.”

Same sources added that the investigations that were carried out by the Education Minister, has shown that teachers and pupils of high schools that are located in major cities are the most vulnerable to violence, especially at a time when over 200 cases of violence were registered against teachers and pupils alike since the start of this school since last September, and up to today’s date.
