Since the far-right National Front (FN) led by Marine Le Pen came in first, with 6 million votes in its favour in the first round of the regional elections held in France last Sunday, the Muslim community, especially the Algerian one, apprehends this polling victory as an earthquake that shook up all the French political class, be it right or left.

The election win of this French extreme right party, especially if it will be repeated in the second round, will upset all the political cards and alter the prospects of our Diaspora, whose fate deeply worries many families in Algeria who want their children and next of kin to come back home instead of living in a poisonous atmosphere in France.

The whole Muslim community has already been living in utter anxiety fearing an Islamophobic backlash after the bloody terror attacks of 13 November in Paris, which killed 130 people and injured over 250 others, so analysts wonder what will be the new situation at the close of the second round of polling during the night of December 13th, the anniversary date of the Paris attacks.
