Algeria’s imports of Italian arms set at 1 billion and 600 million Euros since 1990
Imports by Algeria of Italian arms amounted to over one billion and 600 million Euros since 1990, making it the tenth of Italy’s arms and military systems’ customer during the same period.
The report of the Permanent Observatory of Italy on small arms and security and defense policy believes that Algeria is among the ten largest customers of Italy in the field of the acquisition of weapons systems and defense during the period between 1990 and 2014.
These statistics are based on annual reports drafted by the Italian Parliament on arms exports and imports of the country.
According to an Italian parliamentary report, Algeria is leading the list of countries importing military weapons systems and defense in 2014, in terms of financial value of around 290 million Euros.
This represents nearly 12% of Italian arms exports for the same year.
