Algiers New Airport To Open In 2018

New airport project will be received next year, and the expansion project will allow the transport for approximately 10 million passengers annually, Public Works and Transport Minister, Abdelghani Zaalane, said.

Transport Minister explained in an inspection visit to a number of sector projects in Algiers that the progress of the expansion of the international airport, Houari Boumediene, reached 70%, as the expansion will be on an area of ​​20 hectares. 

“The new airport’s cost reaches DZD 74 billion, and it will contain a barn of 4,500 cars, three hangars for planes, and tracks of more than 424.000 square meters, 120 registration points and 84 surveillance offices”.

In a parallel context, Zaalan made a working visit to several institutions in his sector in Algiers, and the last of which was in Algiers port.

He also visited the headquarters of the National Maritime Transport Corporation for travelers, and the car maintenance center of the National Railway Transport Company in Kharouba, in order to see how well it works.

During his visit to the projects of Algiers Metro and the expansion of the lines of Martyrs Square and Algiers International Airport Houari Boumediene, as the line that links between the central post and the Martyrs Square will come into service by the end of the current year.
