ANP forces seize more than 7 tons of hashish in Touggourt region
The combined forces of the National People’s Army (ANP) have thwarted an attempt of smuggling processed hashish coming from Morocco and proceeded to the seizure of almost 7.4 tons of this nefarious toxin in Touggourt, in the province of Ouargla (Southern Algeria).
In a statement, the Ministerial Department of National Defense said that: “In the context of the sustained fight against organized crime and through the exploitation of relevant information, a combined detachment of the ANP, during an operation at the southern operational area of Ouargla in the 4th Military Region, thwarted an attempted peddling of a large quantity of processed hashish amounting to 7 tons, 3 quintals and 70 kg, concealed in a tank-lorry.”
According to “Echorouk” sources, it appears that it is a vast network involving both Algerian and Moroccan smugglers who are held responsible for this lucrative trafficking ring.
