Anti-Shale Gas Protests: Citizens call for Bouteflika's intervention

Citizens protest in front of Ain Salah department (southern Algeria), in favor of the continued procrastination policy that was adopted by government, about stopping shale gas exploitation, especially in light of the emergence of a wing of protesters, who are thinking about a way of escalation and crawling towards the place of dredger, 25 km from the city, in order to pressurize government, especially after Sellal’s recent TV statements, which sparked angers of protesters, before interference of wise men, which contributed to calming and absorbing anger.

Committee which is supervising on protesters conduct held a closed-door meeting, after the Prime Minister’s statements, as the Committee sent a statement to the President of the Republic to Ain Saleh, which is a query about Sellal’s new statements.
On the other hand, members of the Committee threatened about mass resignation in the event of late receipt of the response from the public authorities, especially as the period of waiting exceeds more than six days in their view, calling for the declaration of urgent actions to stop anger.
Solidarity buses reached the Protest Square from in the city of Adrar, southern Algeria, waiting protesters from Ouergla to Ain Saleh (Southern Algiers), by the beginning of the week, for the organization of a large rally, calling upon President Bouteflika to take a decision to stop the protests, especially after Sellal’s statements.
Previously, an MP for Ain Temouchent Province (western Algeria) told Echorouk about a close issuance of a presidential decision to respond to the demands that were filed to stop exploitation of shale gas.
