The Minister of Industry and Mines, Abdeslam Bouchouareb, has announced that “Renault Algeria” will produce four new vehicle brands, in addition to the “Symbol” car in the factory of Oued Tlilat, near Oran in western Algeria, in addition to building a spare parts plant, without specifying the place nor the date of completion of the ongoing project.

Furthermore, he said the French carmaker “Peugeot” is also intent on settling down  in Algeria, through its subsidiary “Faurecia” to meet outsourcing needs and the project is “about  to be achieved,” adding that ” this endeavour will allow us to achieve right from the start of production, a significant level of integration. “

Mr Abdeslem Bouchouareb also indicated that “the project is being finalized; it is a matter of weeks, he asserted.”

While stating that “the two partners have agreed that the new plant “Peugeot Algeria” will manufacture four models including a pick-up- type utility vehicle in a first phase.”

The Algeria project won’t be similar to what happened in Morocco, where the “Peugeot Citroen” factory, which cost two billion dollars, produced the “301” and the “C. Elysée” cars and a third vehicle at low prices, he underlined.

Meanwhile, in a related context, the industry and mines minister affirmed that the consumer credit will be deferred until the identification of eligible products as the relevant list will be established in the course of the year 2016.
