Bouteflika did not allow Mezrag to create a political party
Algerian President Abdelaziz Bouteflika broke the silence about the allegations of the leader of the so-called the dissolved-Islamic Salvation Army (AIS) Madani Merzag.
“There is a need for a point of order about what is allowed and forbidden in the Reconciliation laws. The State will not be tolerant about those points,” said the president in a letter on the tenth anniversary of the Charter for Peace and National Reconciliation approval.
“We noted some responses to an attempt to talk about Algeria’s previous tragedy. Thus, we confirm that people’s choices will be all applied,” he added.
Speaking about remarks made by the AIS’ leader, Boutefkika said Mezrag’s intention to create a political party is an inappropriate attitude.
“We have heard some inappropriate statements made by people who benefited from the Civil Concord measures. So, we have to remind them that they should not go beyond set limits. The State will not be tolerant,” he added.
