Brokers Sell Visa Appointments, French Embassy Says
The French Embassy in Algeria announced that the information about “the possibility of obtaining a visa application before July 2019 is false”.
“False information was published regarding the procedure for taking a visa application to France with the service provider VFS Global”, the French Embassy said.
“There is no freezing of the request for the next year, regarding the visa application with the service provider”, it added.
According to the same statement, between 1000 and 1500 periods of appointments are opened daily by the General Consulate of France”.
“Within two months between 60,000 to 90.000 dates were proposed for citizens”.
The same source explained that the availability of taking appointments was “difficult” given the “large number of visa applications and the intervention of undesirable intermediaries, who take available dates and then resell them later.”
Both of the General Consulate and the VSF Global service provider are working to find “technical solutions to keep these brokers away”, calling on individuals not to “use their services.”
The Embassy stated that taking an appointment should be made on the website www.france-visas.gouv.fr and that the request should be made at the same level.
