Cars import declines by 30% during 8 months, Industry and Mines Minister says
Industry and Mines Minister, Abdessalam Bouchouareb, responded with sharp tone to the criticisms of cars’ dealers that are accredited in Algeria, after they accused him of dealing with favoritism and preferring the French dealers.
He revealed on recent figures about import which turned out to be the first affected from the new book of conditions, which are the French “Renault”, “Peugeot” and “Citroen” French, which losses exceeded the Germans dealers led by “Sovak.”
In terms of figures, the statement of the Industry Ministry spoke about the rise in the imports of Chinese brands and decline of Algeria’s cars’ imports during the first eight months of 2015 by $1.06 billion, which is equivalent to 30.67%, as these data is provided by the Algerian Customs.
“Cars import bill equaled between January and August of the same year, over $2.395 billion against $3.455 billion in last year, and there is a decline in the number of imported vehicles by 23.58% compared with 2014.”
