CNES: “LMD Doctorate equivqlence hits University”

Syndicate of the Professors’ Council of Higher Education and Scientific Research “CNES” at the University of Tizi Ouzou, called for the organization of a special urgent session of the national office of the syndicate, to move all professors at the country’s universities, to pull the equivqlence of LMD PHD with the Doctorate of Sciences, based on a decision of the Prime Minister, Abdelmalek Sellal, who was considered as “illegal”.
The ministry justified not mentioning this certificate in the Executive Decree No. 08/130 of 3 May 2008, as being the result of its issuance by the Executive Decree No. 08/265 of 19 August 2008 on “LMD” system, and the General Directorate for Public Employment asked, at the request of the Ministry of Higher Education, the administrative and financial services which belong to them, to ensure the application of the equivqlence and allow upgrading the mechanism for LMD Doctorate holders, as this code came for clarification after recording reservation by financial observers about the upgrade on the basis of Article 42 of Executive Decree 08/130.
The decision provoked different reactions, and was comfortable and satisfaction by doctoral students in “LMD” system, and was categorically rejected by teachers and students who are enrolled in masters and doctorate of the Classic system on the grounds that “The decision is unfair and a dangerous maneuver”, and subsequently the CNES’s syndicate branch at the University of Tizi Ouzou, rushed to call for an urgent extraordinary session at the National Bureau to hold an urgent session to move all professors of universities to withdraw the instruction and freeze it.
