Daesh seizes fighter jets in Sirte air base

National People’s Army forces have taken additional security measures in the large areas of the south, after news of the control of Daesh terrorists in the Libyan territory on Karthabia air base in Sirte, their control over the city’s airport.

Information that were reported by a Libyan official, said that Daesh seized the Karthabia air base, on 8 fighter jets, including 6 that ready for service, after undergoing the full maintenance during the recent period, after being previously bombed by the Libyan army .

“Daesh” confirmed its complete control over Sirte and its air base, adding that it will expand to Jufrah base, in the south of Libya, which he considered the gate to Africa, and described Sirte as the gate to Europe and launched threats against Italy.

Karthabia, which is located at 400 km from the Libyan capital Tripoli, is one of the most important air bases that were under the control of forces of Fajr Libya, that are loyal to Tripoli government and the National Congress which term ended, and it fell down by terrorists of “Daesh” after their recent withdrawal on Friday, after the siege that lasted several days.
