An MP for the National Democratic Alliance, Abdelkarim Mehani, called for the application of the death penalty to confront the perpetrators of criminal acts against kids, and the use of a green line to receive complaints of the victims.

“All kids have the right to be protected from violence, exploitation and abuse, but hundreds of them, from all social and economic backgrounds and age groups, suffer every day, and there are hundreds of others who are facing the risks.”

In his intervention in parliament he asserted; “Violence, exploitation and abuse are often practiced by a known person, including parents, mothers and other family members, educators, teachers and employers, but a small percentage of acts are reported and investigated, and a small number of perpetrators are subject to interrogations.”

“Sexual abuse against kids, is considered a deliberate murder of innocence, what requires a revision of the Penal Code in connection with article 334, which states that it is punished by imprisonment of 5 to 10 years against each person who committed an abuse against a minor under 16,  as the criminal should be sentenced to 20 years or life imprisonment, and shed the death penalty instead of imprisonment of 10 to 20 years, with regard to article 335, which states that if the crime occurred against the minor under 16, the offender should be punished with imprisonment from 10 to 20 years, so as to stop the large number of attacks that caused the destruction of thousands of families and the injury of thousands of kids with difficult psychological and social problems which treatment is difficult.”

“Kids and the school are facing real danger, and the protection of kids required the protection of the school, first from various forms of violence. Creation of specialized services at the level of hospitals and the headquarters of security and gendarmerie, means the follow-up of this category and the behavior of minors who are victims of criminal and indecent acts, through applying necessary health, social, psychological and legal follow-up, and the need to develop a national strategy to serve as immunity for kids against such practices.”
