Defense Ministry: Ain Defla terrorist attack increases the determination of armed forces to hunt down remnants of the criminals
Nine soldiers perished and two others injured after being shot by a terrorist group in the province of Ain Defla (south-western Algiers), on Friday morning, as this attack coincides with Eid al-Fitr, National Defense Ministry said in a statement, which copy is available to Echorouk.
“Following the combing operation in the region of Djebel Louh, in Souk Attaf, in Ain Defla, which belongs to the 1st military region, on July, 17, 2015, seven soldiers were shot dead at 7:00 pm by a terrorist group.”
“Immediately after the crime, the area was cordoned off and a large combing operation was launched, and these criminals were chased and their hideouts were discovered and destroyed. Such criminal acts come after the important blows that were received by the terrorist groups and the heavy losses that they suffered in recent months, as this will increase the armed forces’ determination to hunt down the remnants of these criminals and eliminate them. “
In this context, the National People’s Army proceeds, during the first half of the current year, refers to the elimination of 102 terrorists across the country, and the retrieval of significant quantities of weapons and war ammunition, as they were eliminated during the combing operations, ambushes and chasing operations, and they wete mostly carried out by armed forces in central Wilayas of the country, namely: Tizi Ouzou, Boumerdes and Bouira, which is known with the activity of elements of the so-called “al-Qaeda in the Islamic Maghreb”, along with the new splitter organization “Jund Al Khilafa in Algeria” (Caliphate Soldiers in the land of Algeria), as armed operations forces on the southern border with Mali, Niger, Libya, and Tunisia.
“AQIM” adopts the attack
AQIM claimed responsibility, in a statement on Sunday, that was published on the Internet, for the brutal attack which targeted, on the morning of Eid Al-Fitr, against the military personnel, in Djebel Louh, in Ain Defla, and said in a statement, that was published in the news websites, that “its elements killed soldiers on the evening of Eid Al-Fitr after preparing an ambush.”
