General Manager of the National Police (DGSN), General Major Abdelghani Hamel pointed Wednesday to the necessity of bolstering the laudable efforts made by the security services, with the aim of securing better spin-offs in terms of security and law and order across the national territory.

Hamel, who chaired the regular meeting of the heads of National Security, said that the measures taken in 2014 in the fight against criminality and organized crime “have created an atmosphere of quietude among the citizens and strengthened their feeling of security in the four corners of the country”.

He also urged security officials “to pool all the skills and human potentialities to further anchor the implementation of security and crime prevention strategies.”

The marked slump in crime rates recorded in Algeria over the past year “is the outcome of unflagging security campaigns and bold measures implemented on the ground” and represents “a positive sign of the continued support and cooperation from well-meaning citizens” in the framework of the principles of community policing,” Hamel underscored.

Major General Abdelghani Hamel also brought out “the need to ensure quality training for the police forces, to keep them abreast with the advances in the field of security, in a bid to allow the national police forces fully fulfill their duty, in consistence with the laws and regulations and ultimately to promote a high-grade security service.”
