The Trade Union bloc of the national education sector has emphasized that the national education minister, Nouria Benghabrit, is running the sensitive education sector by adopting a policy of ” systematic logjam”, adding that the latter is trying to maneuver the social partners with “fake” records of meetings whereas such divisive issues now gripping the education sector can be solved normally within a couple of hours if the will is there.

At the same time, the Union bloc made up of seven partners announced its resolve to go ahead with a “warning” strike on February 10 and 11, while threatening to escalate the protest movement with the staging of an open-ended strike action until the fulfillment of twelve of the educational workers’ outstanding socio-professional demands.

Education Union representatives also hit out against the minister’s recent threat to bring the strikers before justice, arguing that the recourse to strike action was enshrined in the law and therefore the unions representing the long-neglected teachers would continue their movement until the wrenching of their legitimate rights.

They called on the relevant authorities to soften their position by opening a frank dialogue with the strikers’ representatives in the hope of reaching mutually- acceptable solutions to all pending issues and thus avoiding a further exacerbation of the situation.
