The activity of the National Committee for Social Services of education workers was frozen due to management conflicts, according to Messaoud Amraoui, member of the education workers’ union.

« A severe conflict took place between management structure and elected worker representatives, » said Amraoui.

The Committee led by Abderrahmane Belmechri was set up following elections held in March 2012. Its members were chosen out of 600,000 workers in all over Algeria.

Earlier in 2010, the education minister froze social services fund until 2012 following the election of a new committee.
