Education Workers’ Union Vows To Sue Education Ministry and Public Civil Service
The National Union of education workers has decided to file legal proceedings against both the education Ministry and the public civil service department for what it called “the latter’s procrastination posture and their unwillingness to apply the laws and regulations regarding the education workers’ long-standing socio-professional claims”.
The Union has also decided to set up a national committee which will be entrusted with following up on this file until the fulfillment of the workers’ demands which have so far not been seriously addressed by the relevant authorities.
The Union has thus threatened to take the issue to the courts in case the departments of education and the public civil service still block the retroactive integration of the education workers with the relevant salary hikes and the required administrative promotion in line with an overhauled professional scale.
The Education workers’ Union further urged the Ministry to draw a lesson from the firm stance adopted by private sector employees who have unanimously agreed to turn down the current logjam ministerial policy regarding the education workers’ bona-fide claims.
