Egyptian embassy in Algeria imposed new requirements on Algerians to get a visas to travel to Egypt, which many considered as impossible, especially those related to the inclusion of a bank account that contains 1500 Euros, and complex procedures of security clearance.

Egyptian authorities surprised the Algerians who are wishing to travel to Cairo recently, by including the bank account in the list of conditions, with a mandatory amount of hard currency worth 1,500 euros, to give them a visa of any kind, as well as the tight measures on security clearance that take more than twenty days.
The actions hindered many Algerians’ trips, especially university professors, who are linked with the scientific meetings that are held in Egypt.
In this context, a Professor from Chlef Province, told Echorouk in a phone conversation, that the files of getting visas of many university professors were mortgaged because of the crippling requirement on bank account, which was recently included in the documents that are required to obtain a visa from the Egyptian Embassy.
“An amount of 1,500 Euros, is very expensive, compared to the potential of professors, and even for those who have received grants from the Algerian state to participate in Egypt meetings.”
Egyptian diplomat in the embassy, told Echorouk in a phone conversation, that the documents that are approved to get a visa to enter Egypt, were changed since the beginning of last July, and they included in the documents, the bank account as a new condition, which is a normal procedure to obtain a visa, and is adopted in many countries.
“Security clearance takes anywhere from 10 to 30 days, and the Egyptian Embassy in Algeria is not interested in issuing it, and it
received it from security authorities in Egypt. This procedure is the right to the Egyptian authorities, especially in light of the tense

security situation in the Arab region as well as the countries of the world.”
