Eni’s Director visits Algeria secretly

Eni’s Excutive Director Claudio Descalzi paid a secret official visit to Algeria last week and met with Sonatrach’s senior officials, he told Parliament on Wednesday.

“We are still present in Algeria. We have an excellent relation with it,” Descalzi said, in an answer to questions asked by members of Parliament.

The hearing session was posted on Parliament’s official website.

“Those who talk about incidents in Algeria, I tell them nothing is happening to the company in Algeria. We are still present, producing and meeting its officials,” Eni’s Director said.

At the end of the session, he admitted that he paid a visit to Algeria last week and met the Algerian energy minister and Sonatrach’s officials.

“A week ago, I was in Algeria. I met the minister. I also visited the governmental enterprise and I met with its officials,” he said.
