Facebook forces Algerians to put their real names

No fake names on Facebook from the beginning of 2016, this is the reality that shocked the social networkers who rely on multiple names and fake pictures to defraud their victims, as one of the new studies have shown that half of Algerians have forged identities on Facebook.

In this context, an expert in information and communication technologies, Messaoud Salhi, said that the fake names and pictures on social networks have become the obsession of security services primarily, through the multiplicity of camouflage and fraud cases that hunt kids and primarily girls.

New procedure, which will be launched by Facebook institution by the beginning of 2016, will force the user to register with the real name, phone number and current account, which can allow modifying the password and personal data.

After the multiplicity of fraud cases on the social networks, which reached more than 800 cases in 2015, the Social Network “Facebook” announced that it is committed to the terms of the Convention on the use of websites that force the user to register with the real name, and for this purpose it launched new tools to confirm the name or Report the fake names.

Facebook said, in a statement, that the use of the real-name policy will never change, but some improvements have been added after listening to the complaints and suggestions of users.

Facebook also promised to speed up the ratification demands on the names, and confirmed that the user is able to use his/her account during this process, which takes approximately seven days, with the addition of new layers of protection to maintain the confidentiality of the documents that are sent.

In addition to the mechanism of confirming the real names, Facebook announced that the process of reporting on the fake names forced the user to write the reason and explain the problem in details, then the team which is responsible for ensuring the validity of the allegations and ask for the official documents from the defendant.

Through the new tools, the user can type his/her real name and the title or name of the family and friends, and thus the two names can be used without problems as a result of the different cultures around the world.
