Facebook Pages Encourage Illegal Immigration To Italy
Social network Facebook turned into a platform to promote clandestine immigration through small boats in the Mediterranean from the shores of Annaba and Taraf (eastern Algeria), infiltrating to Europe from the gateway of the Italian island of Sardinia, after the spread of pages that praise the successful adventurous trips after the arrival of illegal immigrants’ safely.
A Facebook page announced that it is seeking to organize a journey of immigration that is no longer secret, starting from one of the provinces’ beach, for 150.000 DZD.
Admins of the page said in their latest publication that they need only four people to complete the number and are determined to realize an illegal immigration journey after Eid al-Fitr, through posting a picture of a new engine and boats, and negotiate with their prospective customers.
Other pages show videos of girls on board of boats in the middle of the sea with young men, In the same way that encourages illegal immigration, since it is no longer confined to males, saying that girls also have the courage to ride the sea amid all those risks in small fragile boats.
One of the human rights activists, who examined one of these boats told Echorouk that they become like cardboard in the middle of the sea, and that they are subject to drowning because they are made of poor wood.
Surprisingly, the admins of this page and others offer their services under the smuggling of human beings, without fear of legal accountability or arrest, but they negotiate the price and respond to people who wish to venture, especially as fever of illegal immigration increased in Taref and Annaba provinces (eastern Algeria), with high temperatures in this hot summer, as there is no talk above the talk of migration, or the words of the true heartburn, knowing that prices range from 100.000 to 150.000 DZD per passenger.
This phenomenon, which become a modern means of communication, is highly reprehensible due to the serious consequences that it had on society, especially in Annaba (eastern Algeria), which counts hundreds of missing and drowning victims, while parents who are living in neighborhoods that are considered a stronghold of such networks for organizing illegal immigration like Sibus district of Guano Ville, is a state of constant fear for their children and fear of delving behind the delusions of the false European dream and the promised paradise there, given that the argument of all is unemployment and difficult social conditions in Algeria, forgetting the most difficult reality that awaits them in Europe and the life of homelessness there, regardless of the dangers of the journey itself.
A young man from the Old City of Place D’arme told Echorouk about impressive details of what happened to his friends a few days ago in Ramadan.
“The boat began to break after sailing relatively for a short distance, and fortunately, everyone in the boat was good at swimming but we suffered from extreme exhaustion before returning to the shore.
